The Technique's Founder: F.M. Alexander
Frederick Mathias Alexander (1869-1955) was born in Tasmania. He was a passionate reciter of Shakespeare’s soliloquies and monologues of Australian outback life but developed chronic laryngitis while performing.
Determined to restore the full use of his voice, he spent months in front mirrors, observing himself at rest, talking, and reciting and in so doing developed the technique that now bears his name. more... |
