The Brighton Alexander Technique College is a Carrington style-training course, evolving our practice from the renowned skills of Walter & Dilys Carrington. Read about Dilys's work
Carolyn Nicholls, Head of Training, was privileged to have been trained by Walter and Dilys Carrington at the Constructive Teaching Centre in London, qualifying in 1982, she undertook a Masters' degree in Alexander Teacher Training and examined and deepened the skills she learned. She also holds a Master's degree in Creative Writing. Carolyn brings these skills to all her work and offers courses in AT and creativity.

"I really enjoyed the whole workshop. The thing that stands out the most is the way of overcoming tension and judgmen and trying to get things right. I now have in my mind a clear progression: when I notice myself getting tight or worrying about how the painting is going, I can invite myself to free up and check that I'm not gripping the brush too tightly. If that doesn't work, I can go for a little walk. And if I'm still not feeling calm, I can lie in semi-supine for 10 minutes. It's wonderful to have these strategies. .I also appreciated the advice on brush work and paint characteristics. Much of the information was new to me and very helpful"

Carolyn combines the richness of her experience with fresh and innovative ways of teaching. It was very exciting to be taught by a teacher who was intensely involved with the Technique and was constantly discovering new aspects of it herself. Padmini Menon (Alexander Teacher- Bangalore, India)
The course has a clear and structured framework that is built on month after month, year after year. I strongly recommend this school to anyone. Susan Taber (Alexander Teacher- Rye)
